4 ways I Save Money Every Month

Below is a list of four ways I am saving money each month this list is in no particular order.

• Amazon Prime: For only $99, I can get anything on Amazon.com shipped to my house without a shipping fee. I feel like I break even as soon as a have ordered 25 times from amazon.com; in the last year I have put over a 100 orders in and have used Amazon Warehouse Deals to find additionally lower prices.

  Shopping on Amazon means I don’t have to drive to the department store when we need things like: Baby Wipes, Household Goods, Electronics, and Clothing.

• Commute: I sold my old Saturn L300 Sedan for $750 with quite a few mechanical issues and electrical issues and bought Specialized Sirrus Bicycle for $500.

  Each day I ride my bicycle to work I save $4 in gas spent for the day and a fractional amount of money on maintained on my car each trip. I am also then able to leave my 2012 Honda Civic Sedan at home with my wife to drive our children around.

  I also am able to forgo the expense of having a gym membership, and am able to possibly avert some future healthcare costs because I am increasing my level of fitness by riding each day.

• Groceries: My wife and I are committed to purchasing organic food and locally produced food as much as we can meaning we need to get creative if we want to spend as little food as we can.

  We use a couple of strategies to keep our costs down while still sourcing the best whole ingredient food we can find.

  Our strategies include:

  • CSA Subscription
  • Farmer’s Market
  • Costco

• Cell Phones: I dropped T-Mobile in favor of Ting, my bill with T-Mobile for two phones with unlimited data (capped at 1gb), talk, and text was $95/month, my bill with ting bounces between $36/month to $45/month and I have not modified my cell phone usage habits significantly (other than making sure I have all the wifi networks added including Xfiniti’s wi-fi service).
